Amitis hybrid simulations show the dynamics of thermal O+ and H+ ions at Ganymede's magnetopause, inside and outside the Jovian plasma sheet. Power density at the magnetopause is mostly positive, reaching up to +20 nW/m3 locally. Ion velocity distributions are non-Maxwellian, with O+ and H+ ions gaining energy by factors of 8 and 30, respectively, reaching up to 1 MeV. Our results align well with Galileo observations, capturing the size and structure of Ganymede's magnetosphere.

Magnetosheath jets are dynamic pressure enhancements in the magnetosheath that influence the magnetopause and magnetosphere, playing a key role in solar wind-magnetosphere coupling. Using Amitis, we present the first global 3D hybrid-kinetic simulations of Earth without scaling. This study reveals that jets are not simple cylinders but complex, interconnected structures that evolve dynamically as they intrude the magnetosheath.

Future lunar exploration will increase anthropogenic gas emissions into the lunar exosphere, potentially altering its plasma environment. Amitis hybrid simulations show that while Artemis landings will have minimal impact, higher ionization levels from frequent landings or human settlements could significantly disrupt the Moon’s solar wind interaction and plasma structure.

Using global hybrid simulations with the Amitis code, we explore how a radial interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) affects solar wind ions entering the comet's diamagnetic cavity. The results show that when the IMF is aligned with the solar wind velocity, no bow shock forms, allowing solar wind ions to penetrate the cavity, consistent with observations from the Rosetta spacecraft.

Amitis hybrid simulations of the Mars–solar wind interaction reveal that the electric field morphology is influenced by the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) direction and plasma conditions. We showed the hemispherical asymmetry in the electric field, dominance of the motional electric field in most regions, and the Hall term's varying significance in different IMF configurations.
